KNUST cautions prospective students against fake admission, accommodation agents

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has cautioned prospective students and parents against individuals and groups posing as authorised agents for admissions and accommodation.

The University said it has observed an increasing number of social media posts, WhatsApp groups, websites and other online platforms claiming to provide official information and assistance on admissions, hall allocation and room bookings.

In a statement dated September 17, the University noted that dealing with such individuals could expose prospective students to financial losses and the theft or misuse of their personal information and admission credentials.

“The University wishes to make it clear that only officially designated KNUST offices and platforms are authorised to provide information and guidance on admissions and accommodation matters," it read in part.

KNUST therefore urged prospective students and parents to exercise caution when dealing with individuals who claim they can secure admission, guarantee hall accommodation or arrange room bookings.

The University advised students not to send money, admission credentials, passwords or personal documents to anyone based solely on claims that they represent KNUST.

It also reminded prospective students that their KNUST Admissions Portal credentials are personal and confidential and must not be shared with third parties.

“Your KNUST Admissions Portal credentials are personal and confidential. Please do not share your username, password or other login details with anyone," the school stressed.

KNUST directed prospective students to obtain information on admissions, fees, accommodation and hall bookings through its official website or the Admissions Office.
