Lead Partner of Robert Smith Law Group, Lawyer Bobby Banson, has called for a more patriotic and objective approach to public accountability in Ghana’s public discourse.

He said political partisanship, religious bigotry and tribal sentiments continue to undermine meaningful discussions on national issues.

In a social media post on Monday, September 14, Lawyer Banson urged Ghanaians to prioritise the national interest, particularly during discussions on political and public affairs programmes.

“Until the demand for public accountability in public discourse is devoid of cronyism, political equalisation, religious bigotry and tribal sensationalism, Ghana will keep marking time,” he wrote.

The legal practitioner said Ghanaians must approach public discourse with a stronger sense of patriotism, regardless of their political, religious or ethnic affiliations.

He specifically referenced Saturday morning television discussions, which often focus on politics and national issues.

“Let us think, talk and act with a sense of patriotism, particularly on Saturday mornings,” he stated.
