Communication Minister appeals for sustained support for young innovators

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has appealed to parents, teachers, facilitators and partners to sustain their support for young innovators beyond the AI and Robotics Summer Bootcamp.

He noted that continued guidance will be important to transforming the skills acquired into meaningful opportunities.

Delivering a statement at the opening of the five‑day programme on Tuesday in Accra, the Minister said the Bootcamp, which has brought together 100 students from 19 schools, is designed to provide practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence, robotics, coding and other emerging technologies.

The schools include the Nima Cluster of Schools, Teshie Anglican Basic School, 37 Military Basic School, Accra Newtown Experimental School, Osu Ringway Estate Basic School, Salem School, Mizpah International School, KinderKids International School, Royal Standard Learning Centre, My Redeemer School, Globen School, Labone S.D.A. Church School, University of Ghana Basic School, Sunflower School, AgyeBaff Educational Center, Ahtoo Montessori School, Crystal Gate International School, Platinum School and Ghana International School.

Mr George explained that the initiative complements the government’s digital skills agenda and contributes to the objectives of Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

He urged participants to approach the programme with curiosity, discipline and resilience, encouraging them to see mistakes as opportunities to learn.

According to him, rapid advancement of AI, robotics and automation is reshaping economies and the world of work, making it vital to give young people opportunities to acquire relevant skills in practical settings,” he stated.

Mr George expressed hope that with sustained support from families, educators and partners, the initiative will nurture a new generation of Ghanaian innovators and problem‑solvers capable of harnessing technology to create solutions and opportunities for Ghana and the wider African continent.
