Clapping For Hardship And Insensitivity: The Irony Of The NDC Reset Agenda

Under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, I paid less for water, electricity, and transport, yet he was vilified and branded as an insensitive President.

Today, under President Mahama, who was cloaked with all manner of adjectives as the saviour with a reset agenda, I unfortunately pay double what I used to pay for the same services, and they expect us to clap for him.

In all fairness, devoid of partisan politics, is it not fair to describe President Mahama as the most insensitive President in the history of Ghana?

He has also failed on his flagship 24-hour economy policy, which he touted as the anchor to tackle youth unemployment. This policy has now been reduced to building markets across the country, which was never part of the initial plan.

So where lies the commitment to create jobs for the teeming youth who queued under the scorching sun to vote for him and the NDC?

On the galamsey fight, President Mahama stated on record that he would end the menace within four months of being elected.

What is alarming is that galamsey activities have rather worsened under him as Commander-in-Chief. Our water bodies, which were relatively clean before the NPP left office, have been heavily polluted and destroyed by illegal mining.

Moreover, it has been reported that some NDC executives, MMDCEs, and MPs are complicit, with some even collecting galamsey levies.

The questions on the minds of Ghanaians are: Where is the President's commitment and political will to end galamsey? Why have his appointees, who were once vociferous and loud, suddenly gone silent while the menace continues to fester?

To sum it up, this clearly shows the unprincipled calibre of people at the helm of affairs, enjoying power to the detriment of the ordinary Ghanaian who voted for them in 2024.

Why should the ordinary Ghanaian clap for an insensitive and clueless government?
