Torgbe Dosu-Adaku VIII commends LDS church, Dzifa Agbetepey as flood relief reaches Atorkor and Dosukofe

The Chief of Atorkor and Dosukofe, Torgbe Dosu-Adaku VIII, has commended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Government of Ghana, relevant state institutions and individuals whose efforts contributed to the delivery of humanitarian relief items to flood-affected families in Atorkor and Dosukofe.

The relief items were distributed on Saturday, August 29, 2026, providing much-needed support to families still recovering from the devastating floods that affected the two communities in recent weeks. The donation by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints included boxes of sardines, cooking oil, bags of rice and corn, sanitary supplies and other essential provisions.

Speaking on behalf of the Dosu-Adaku Royal Family, Torgbe Dosu-Adaku VIII expressed profound gratitude to the Church for its timely intervention and support for the affected communities.

“For communities going through difficult times, leadership is often measured not by the titles people hold, but by what they do when their people need them most. That is what the Church has done, and this is very laudable,” the Chief stated.

He also commended the Government of Ghana and relevant state agencies for facilitating the release of the high-value consignment and ensuring that the relief items reached the intended beneficiaries.

According to the Chief, the intervention went beyond the provision of food and other essential items, describing it as an example of what can be achieved when institutions and communities work together during times of crisis.

“More than relief items, this is about people and institutions coming together in a time of need,” he stressed.

Torgbe Dosu-Adaku VIII said the intervention should serve as a foundation for stronger partnerships between traditional authorities, government institutions, humanitarian organizations and development partners to pursue sustainable solutions to flooding and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities.

Chief commends royal family kingsmen
The Chief also acknowledged the unity and commitment of the kingsmen of the Dosu-Adaku Royal Family for their continued support and dedication to the welfare of the people.

He specifically recognized Dr. Denis Leonard Adaletey, Mr. Samuel Ephraim Gemadzi, Mr. Divine Apedo, Mr. Sefas Lumor Keledome, Mr. David Kofi Asemuasa, WO1 Michael Kwasi Amewuda and Mr. Justino Kafui Dosu for their commitment and contributions towards the relief effort.

He said their collective support demonstrated the importance of unity within the Royal Family, particularly when the welfare of the people was at stake.

Dzifa Agbetepey recognized for relief coordination

Torgbe Dosu-Adaku VIII also singled out Madam Dzifa Agbetepey, founder of Royal Women In Cinema Ghana, CEO of Streamline Y & D Innovations and Representative of the Dosu-Adaku Royal Family, for her dedication and personal involvement in ensuring that the relief items reached the affected communities.

Madam Agbetepey played a key role in coordinating the processes leading to the release and delivery of the relief items. Her responsibilities included engaging relevant institutions, following up on documentation and facilitating the movement of the consignment from the warehouse in Accra to the affected communities in the Volta Region.

The Chief commended her for personally travelling from Accra to the communities with the relief items and taking part in the distribution to beneficiaries.

“Dzifa Agbetepey was deeply involved in the process from the warehouse in Accra to the communities. She personally travelled with the items, ensured they reached the people and also assisted with the distribution,” Torgbe Dosu-Adaku VIII said.

He added that her commitment demonstrates that leadership is not only about being seen; sometimes it is about making the calls, attending the meetings, engaging institutions, following up on processes and refusing to give up until something is done for the people.

Relief brings hope to flood-affected families

The distribution brought visible relief and joy to beneficiaries, many of whom suffered significant losses during the floods, including damage to homes and the destruction of personal belongings.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Dosu-Adaku Royal Family, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Government and all individuals and institutions involved in securing the assistance.

They said the relief items would provide important support as they continue to recover from the effects of the disaster and meet their daily needs.

Torgbe Dosu-Adaku VIII reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the welfare of the people of Atorkor and Dosukofe, stressing the need for continued attention to the challenges confronting flood-prone communities.

He called for sustained collaboration among traditional authorities, government agencies, humanitarian organizations, development partners and community stakeholders to address the underlying causes of flooding and develop long-term measures to prevent communities from repeatedly suffering devastating losses.

The relief distribution, he said, represents not only immediate humanitarian assistance but also an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and collective efforts towards building safer and more resilient communities in the Volta Region.
