The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will open its recruitment portal for the 2026 Military Enlistment Exercise on Friday, September 4, 2026, giving eligible Ghanaians the opportunity to apply to join the Armed Forces.

The exercise will be conducted in accordance with the eligibility requirements and selection procedures set by the GAF.

The Armed Forces has also released the entry requirements for the 2026/2027 intake into the Ghana Military Academy.

According to a notice published on August 31, 2026, applicants for the Regular Cadet course must be Ghanaian citizens of good character, medically fit to GAF standards and capable of passing the Pre-Joining Fitness Test.

Applicants must also be unmarried and not bonded, and must be between 18 and 26 years old by February 18, 2027.

The minimum height requirement is 1.68 metres (5 feet 6 inches) for male applicants and 1.60 metres (5 feet 2 inches) for female applicants.

For applicants seeking entry into the Military Police, the minimum height is 1.75 metres (5 feet 9 inches) for men and 1.70 metres (5 feet 7 inches) for women.

On academic qualifications, applicants with the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) must have six credits, Grades 1 to 6, including English, Mathematics and Science.

Applicants presenting the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) must have six credits, Grades A1 to C6, including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science.

Those applying with the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) must also have six credits, Grades A to D, in the required core subjects.

Applicants using the City and Guilds qualification route must have five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, at 'O' Level, as well as Grades A to D in three subjects at 'A' Level.

The GAF said proficiency in French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, German or Swahili would be an added advantage.

For the Regular Career Officer Course, applicants are required to possess a first degree, not below Second Class Lower, from an accredited university or institution, with the relevant academic discipline depending on their chosen specialisation.

The listed career streams include Infantry, Armour, Artillery and Army Special Operations, Signals, Information Systems and Cyber Security, Engineering, Supply and Transport, Ordnance, Explosive Ordnance, Physical Training, Education, Records, Agricultural Extension, Band and Public Relations.

Technology-related fields such as Robotic Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Computing are also among the disciplines listed for eligible applicants.

The opening of the recruitment portal on September 4 will therefore mark the beginning of the application process for prospective recruits seeking to pursue careers in the Ghana Armed Forces.
