Valley View University graduates 1,156 students as VC urges integrity, excellence and lifelong learning

A total of 1,156 students from the three campuses of Valley View University, namely Oyibi, Kumasi and Techiman, have graduated, with 237 of the graduates coming from the Kumasi Campus in the Ashanti Region.

The graduation ceremony, held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Kumasi, brought together the university's leadership, government representatives, faculty and staff, as well as parents, guardians, friends, well-wishers and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of the graduates.

Addressing the graduates, the Vice-Chancellor of Valley View University, Professor Dr. Daniel Ganu, urged them to make integrity and excellence the foundation of both their professional and personal lives as they transition from the university into the world of work and service.

He cautioned them against seeking success through shortcuts, stressing that academic qualifications alone were not enough to guarantee meaningful and sustainable success.

“Your certificates must be complemented by good character, professional competence, integrity, adaptability and a commitment to lifelong learning,” Professor Ganu said.

He explained that the rapidly changing global economy required graduates to remain intellectually curious and willing to acquire new knowledge and skills throughout their careers.

Professor Ganu also drew the graduates' attention to the growing influence of technology and Artificial Intelligence, urging them to prepare for both the opportunities and challenges associated with technological transformation.

“The world of work is changing rapidly, and those who will remain relevant must be prepared to learn, unlearn and relearn as circumstances demand,” he said.

In line with the changing demands of the global economy, the Vice-Chancellor announced that Valley View University would soon introduce a number of new academic programmes aimed at equipping students with skills relevant to emerging areas of national and global development.

The programmes are expected to broaden the university's academic portfolio and create opportunities for students to pursue studies in strategically important fields.

The new programmes include Law, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Business Analytics and Health Informatics, as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Professor Ganu said the move reflected the university's responsiveness to emerging trends in education, technology, industry and national development.

The Rector of Valley View University, Kumasi Campus, Dr. Patricia Animah Nyamekye Frimpong, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to providing quality higher education grounded in the values and principles of the Seventh-day Adventist tradition.

She said the university's educational philosophy went beyond academic knowledge to focus on the holistic development of students.

According to her, the university places emphasis on character, spirituality, professional competence and service to society, describing these values as essential components of preparing students for responsible leadership and meaningful contribution to their communities.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, urged the graduates to recognise the sacrifices made by their parents and guardians throughout their educational journey and to honour those sacrifices through responsible living and meaningful contributions to national development.

“Make your parents and guardians proud by demonstrating integrity in the decisions you make and excellence in whatever responsibilities you undertake,” Dr. Amoakohene told the graduates.

He stressed that integrity must serve as a compass to guide them in both their professional and personal lives.

The Regional Minister also assured Valley View University of the government's commitment to supporting institutions that contribute significantly to Ghana's human capital development.

He commended the university for its contribution to education and observed that the institution was expanding rapidly, particularly its Kumasi Campus, as it continues to train graduates for Ghana's changing workforce.
