The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two persons in connection with the alleged mob killing of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District.

The deceased, identified only as Yibonwura, was reportedly attacked and severely beaten after being accused of stealing shea nuts.

He subsequently died from injuries sustained during the alleged assault, which was captured on video and later circulated widely on social media.

In a statement dated August 26, 2026, Savannah Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) David K. Amoako, confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the incident.

The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Adjei Abdulai, a carpenter, and 22-year-old Issah Mahama, a student.

Police said the two were arrested as part of investigations into the alleged attack and are currently in custody assisting with inquiries.

The Command has also launched a manhunt for a third suspect who is believed to have been involved in the incident.

The Ghana Police Service said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and identify all persons who may have been involved in the alleged crime.
