Savannah Region NDC mourns demise of Council of State Member Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu

The Savannah Region has been thrown into mourning following the death of His Excellency Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu, the elected Council of State Member representing the region.

In a condolence statement signed by Deputy Regional Secretary Safo Emmanuel Sadari on behalf of the Regional Secretary, the NDC Savannah Regional Secretariat expressed deep sorrow over the death of the statesman, administrator, politician and traditional leader.

The Secretariat described his passing as a major loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Savannah Region, the Bole Traditional Area and Ghana as a whole.

Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu devoted several decades to public service, contributing to administration, accounting, politics, traditional leadership and community development. In February 2025, he was elected to represent the Savannah Region on the Ninth Council of State, bringing extensive experience in governance and public administration to the position.

His public service career included serving as District Chief Executive for the Bole District from 2009 to 2013 and later as Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the Eastern Region from 2013 to 2017.

He also had a longstanding connection with the accounting profession and, since 2005, served as Chairman of the Educational Accountants Association for the Northern Region.

A Stalwart of the NDC
Within the NDC, Alhaji Abudu was regarded as a dedicated party stalwart and founding member of the Bole-Bamboi Constituency.

Until his death, he served as Chairman of the NDC Council of Elders in the Savannah Region, where his experience, wisdom and counsel provided guidance to party leadership and members.

His contribution extended beyond partisan politics. In 2013, he was enskinned as the Tingawura of the Bole Traditional Area, a position through which he continued to promote development, unity and the welfare of his people.

His commitment to community development also led to the establishment of the Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu (ASSA) Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on sustainable development and improving livelihoods across the Savannah Region.

The NDC Regional Secretariat said his death would be deeply felt by individuals and institutions that benefited from his leadership, experience and dedication to public service.

It extended condolences to the Government of Ghana, the Bolewura and the entire Bole Traditional Area, the bereaved family and the NDC fraternity throughout the Savannah Region.

The Secretariat also prayed for strength and comfort for his family, loved ones, colleagues and all those mourning his passing.

Tingawura Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu leaves behind a legacy spanning public administration, politics, traditional leadership and community development. His contributions to public life and the development of the Savannah Region are expected to remain a source of inspiration to future generations.

As tributes continue to pour in from the Savannah Region and beyond, mourners have remembered him as a statesman, traditional leader, elder, father and dedicated servant of the people.
