Tourism Minister calls for stronger public-private collaboration to unlock Bono’s tourism potential

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to unlock the tourism potential of the Bono Region and Ghana as a whole.

She said closer cooperation among government institutions, private businesses and other stakeholders was needed to improve tourism infrastructure, attract investment and enhance service delivery within the sector.

Madam Gomashie made the call on Wednesday when she met management and staff of the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in the Bono Region as part of her familiarisation tour of the region.

She urged public sector institutions to learn from the successes of private businesses, particularly hotels and other tourism-related enterprises, which had improved their operations by identifying opportunities in the business environment.

The Minister said public institutions could adopt similar approaches to improve their operational standards and the quality of services provided to the public.

She stressed that the development of the tourism, culture and creative arts sector required commitment, professionalism and collaboration among all stakeholders.

Madam Gomashie also reminded political appointees, directors and other public officials of their responsibility to provide effective leadership, relevant information and the necessary support to advance the sector.

She urged staff and stakeholders to do their best to represent Ghana at both the national and international levels, stressing that their work ultimately served the country's interests.

“Our work is not for an individual; it is for Ghana, represented by the Red, Gold and Green with the Black Star,” she said.

The Minister encouraged stakeholders to build on what they had inherited and contribute to developing a stronger tourism, culture and creative arts sector for future generations.

The Bono Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, assured the people of the region of the government’s continued support for the development of tourism, culture and creative arts.

He commended the Minister for engaging directly with staff and listening to their concerns, saying such interactions would help identify challenges and opportunities at the regional level.

He expressed the hope that similar engagements would continue to help improve the fortunes of tourism and culture in the Bono Region.
