Togbe Edzeani V installed as new divisional chief of Fodome Amele

The Fodome Traditional Council, under the leadership of Togbega Gbedebleme Akpatsa II, has installed a new Divisional Chief for the people of Fodome Amele.

The colourful and dignified traditional ceremony took place on August 13, 2026, at the White House, where Togbe Edzeani V, known in private life as Mr MacMillan Asem, was formally installed as the recognised chief of Fodome Amele.

Togbe Edzeani V was sworn into office by the Paramount Chief, Togbega Gbedebleme Akpatsa II, in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Fodome Traditional Council.

The ceremony was attended by chiefs and queen mothers of the Traditional Council, as well as a delegation from Abutia led by Togbega Kodzo Gidi, Paramount Chief of Abutia. Members of the public also gathered to witness the historic occasion.

Before his enstoolment, Togbe Edzeani V worked as a Banking Consultant, providing advisory services to international firms across Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa.

With more than 15 years of professional experience, he holds several academic qualifications, including Master’s degrees from Central University and the University of Ghana.

He is also noted for his philanthropic activities and has supported individuals and communities across Ghana through his non-governmental organisation and various charitable initiatives.

Speaking after his installation, Togbe Edzeani V pledged to work with development partners and other stakeholders to improve the living conditions of the people of Fodome Amele while promoting environmental sustainability.

He also committed himself to promoting peace, unity, love and development and assured the people of his determination to work with all stakeholders to advance the interests of the traditional area.

Fodome Amele holds significant historical and cultural importance as the first human settlement of the Fodome people, with a rich heritage that remains central to the identity and traditions of the community.
