A contender for the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Keskine Owusu Poku, believes the party’s internal elections on August 15 will mark a turning point for the NPP in the region.
Mr Owusu Poku is predicting victory for Odeneho Kwaku Appiah in the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship race, saying his election would help restore the party’s structures and rekindle grassroots support.
In a social media post, he said the upcoming election would usher in a new chapter for the party in the region.
“Tomorrow will be a rebirth of NPP in the Ashanti Region. Under the leadership of Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, the love for the party in the region shall be restored and the structures of the party will work once again,” he stated.
The contest for the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship has intensified, with Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Coka, and former Member of Parliament for Ejura Sekyedumase, Dr Kingsley Nyarko Kokofu, emerging as key contenders.
Reports suggest that Dr Kokofu has been making significant inroads in the race and is believed to have the backing of some influential figures within the party in the region.
Coka, however, remains confident of securing victory, having previously contested the position.
Mr Owusu Poku's endorsement adds to the growing campaign ahead of the August 15 elections, with the outcome expected to determine the direction and organisational strength of the NPP in the Ashanti Region.
