The 2026 Impact Leaders Breakfast (ILB) in Accra has called for a change in leadership mindset and greater collaboration among business leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs to drive sustainable economic growth.
Held under the theme, “Leading Together with Global Insights for Local Impact,” the event, founded by Kafui Prebbie, brought together business executives, entrepreneurs and other leaders for discussions on scaling impact-driven businesses, cross-border leadership and ecosystem development.
The gathering was considered timely given the prevailing global and domestic economic challenges and provided a platform for leaders to exchange ideas on how businesses could navigate the current economic environment.
A major highlight of the event was a keynote address by Rev. Albert Ocran, Co-Founder of the Springboard Roadshow Foundation, whose presentation inspired participants with lessons on resilience, discipline and effective leadership.
Rev. Ocran, who is recognised for his leadership and entrepreneurial experience, also launched his new book, “Ten Times Better,” which chronicles aspects of his personal and professional journey.
In his address, he stressed the importance of integrity, humility and discipline in leadership, while calling for stronger commitment to ethical business practices.
He identified transparency, professionalism, corporate governance and ethics as critical factors for achieving sustainable business growth and urged leaders to uphold these principles in their organisations.
Rev. Ocran also encouraged business leaders to deliberately develop young people by promoting accountability, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility towards their communities.
Scaling Impact-Driven Businesses
A key discussion at the Impact Leaders Breakfast focused on the challenges involved in scaling impact-driven businesses and the implications of government policies on the corporate sector.
One of the panellists, Bako Ambianda, a Cameroonian entrepreneur and CEO of Bako Group Holdings, called on governments to clearly identify and communicate the major economic challenges facing their respective countries.
He said addressing cash-flow challenges within the economy was critical and urged the government to promote and increase domestic production as part of efforts to tackle stagflation.
Mr Ambianda also advised businesses to manage counterparty risks by planning realistically around the resources available to them and ensuring that their cash flows could adequately support their financing needs.
Confidence in Government Policies
The meeting also identified a lack of confidence in the ability of some African governments to effectively implement policies as a major challenge confronting the continent.
Participants noted that the situation could contribute to citizens seeking better economic opportunities in other African countries, including South Africa, where the influx of migrants has, in some instances, contributed to tensions and xenophobic attacks.
Speaking during a fireside chat, Kris Senanu, CEO and Executive Chairman of Smiths and Berkeley Advisory LLC, called for a broader and more diverse composition of economic management teams across African countries.
He argued that economic teams should bring together people with diverse skills and expertise to provide a stronger foundation for addressing structural economic challenges.
According to him, addressing those structural issues effectively would help create a more stable environment for businesses to grow and thrive.
Mr Senanu said the 2026 gathering was only the beginning of a series of engagements designed to equip leaders with the knowledge, tools and networks required to drive business growth and development locally and internationally.
Networking and Mentorship
The 2026 edition of the Impact Leaders Breakfast CEO Networking Meeting also provided opportunities for entrepreneurs and business leaders to network, build partnerships and gain mentorship from experienced business executives.
Participants engaged with their peers and explored opportunities for collaboration while reflecting on practical strategies for improving leadership and business performance.
The event successfully laid the foundation for future editions and set a strong platform for continued conversations on leadership, entrepreneurship and economic development in Ghana and beyond.
Attendees left the gathering inspired to apply the lessons and insights shared and to strengthen their leadership capacity while taking their businesses to the next level.
