Kwabre Kenyasi chief commissions over ghc 3 million ultramodern market to get traders off streets

The Chief of Kwabre Kenyasi, Barimah Fredua Agyemang, has commissioned over ghc 3 million ultramodern market facility for his people in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Speaking at the commissioning on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the renowned chief said the project is a measure to curb the problem of market women plying their trade on unsafe road sides.

Barimah Fredua Agyeman stated that all market women currently on the streets will be moved to the new facility to enable them to operate in a more secure environment.

The project comes with modern facilities including lockable shops, stalls, and washrooms, among others.

The Chief pledged his continuous support for the development of the community.

He however, appealed to the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly to create a new bus terminal for the market.

According to him, this will help remove drivers from indiscriminate loading and offloading on the street.

For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwabre East, Hon. Joseph Amankwah, hailed the chief for the initiative.

He noted the Assembly will provide the necessary support to ensure the smooth running of the market.

Hon. Amankwah called on the community to use the market for all trading activities in order to make the place attractive enough to draw others.
