Newly reassigned Minister for Defence, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, says he is stepping into his new portfolio with renewed energy, humility and a firm commitment to strengthening Ghana’s security architecture.
In a Facebook post on Friday, August 7, 2026, Mr. Adjei expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in him, describing his move from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources as another opportunity to serve the nation.
He reflected on his tenure at Works, Housing and Water Resources, noting that it was marked by collaboration, service and dedication to delivering on his mandate.
“I am profoundly grateful to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in me and the opportunity to serve the people of Ghana as Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources,” he wrote.
He also commended staff of the ministry for their professionalism and support, saying the progress achieved was the result of collective effort.
As he transitions to the Defence Ministry, Mr. Adjei said he is approaching the role with a deep sense of duty and optimism.
“As I take on my new responsibility at the Ministry of Defense, I do so with humility, renewed energy and a deep sense of duty,” he said, adding that he looks forward to contributing meaningfully to efforts aimed at building a stronger and more secure Ghana.
He thanked Ghanaians for their continued support and urged citizens to remain focused on national development.
“The work continues. Let us keep our sleeves rolled up, remain focused and work even harder to deliver for Ghana,” he said, calling for collective effort as he begins his new assignment.
