Open Letter To Sammy Gyamfi: Be Ready To Account As A Public Officer Paid With State Resources

Dear Sammy Gyamfi,

I write to you as a patriotic citizen and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the above subject matter, and I hope you are fit as a fiddle.

Firstly, in opposition, you were all over the place and levelled all manner of frivolous, unfounded, baseless, and unsubstantiated allegations against the respected Former President, the Former Vice President, and officials of the NPP administration.

In fact, as the National Communications Officer of the NDC, you were hopping from one Radio and TV station to another using unprintable and derogatory remarks on the previous NPP administration.

In all your submissions, you knew the majority of your claims were based on hearsay and not grounded in facts.

To say it as it is, you succeeded in your mission to bastardize and also deceive Ghanaians through such vile and wild unsubstantiated allegations.

Today, I am taken aback that you cannot withstand a quarter of what you displayed in opposition with impunity, without threatening people with lawsuits.

That said: Sammy Gyamfi, are you above the law for being questioned as a public officer paid by the state?

As the CEO of Goldbod, I don't expect you to be so jittery to account for your stewardship as an appointee of President Mahama.

As the CEO of such a sensitive institution with the mandate to manage our gold, you must account for losses once they are reported.

1. 2024 IMF Report: The IMF reported that Goldbod, through the BOG, made *$214m in losses* from gold sales.

This matter sparked public uproar, and you could not defend and account for such huge losses as CEO of Goldbod. What made it worse was that these losses were made at a time when gold prices on the international market were high.

2. Recent Allegations: News circulating on social media and in traditional media suggests that your outfit made another huge loss of GHC200m to a licensed gold dealer.

Under normal circumstances, why should you, the CEO of Goldbod, be angered by public discussion of an amount allegedly lost by a licensed gold dealer?

3. 2025 IMF Report: Quite shocking is the 2025 report released by the IMF. The Fund stated that the losses were far more than the initial $214m, to the tune of $1.7bn.

Sammy Gyamfi, as the CEO of Goldbod, this raises serious alarm on your dealings with the BOG, which continue to bring losses instead of profit to the country.

To conclude, it is mind-blowing for you to threaten the public with lawsuits instead of putting out the facts for Ghanaians to examine and interrogate for the truth and nothing else.

You are a public official appointed by the President, and you cannot use your office to intimidate critical voices who raise genuine and pertinent matters of great concern to the country.

Be ready to account to the public, not just through mere lawsuits to suppress people who speak for the voiceless.

You did more than that in opposition with impunity without any threats; therefore, be bold to account.
