The Chief of Gomoa Aboso in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region, Nana Afadzie Mensah VII, says he has earmarked GH¢600,000 to support all ongoing self‑help projects initiated by the youth to ensure their timely completion.
Nana Afadzie Mensah VII, who also serves as the Twafohene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, praised the strong communal spirit demonstrated by the youth of Gomoa Aboso and pledged to champion both human and infrastructural development to improve livelihoods within the community.
He made these remarks during his maiden address to the people of Gomoa Aboso.
Sharing his vision as the newly installed Chief, Nana Afadzie Mensah VII stated that his top priority is peace and development, stressing that development cannot thrive in the absence of peace.
“I am happy to assume leadership at a time when Nananom—comprising the Omankrado, Kyidomhene, Omanbaatan, Ebusuapanyinfo, and the youth—have initiated essential projects in the community. It is only right that we provide the necessary funding to ensure their completion,” he said.
He described as unfortunate the fact that Gomoa Aboso remains the only community within the enclave stretching from Aboso to Gomoa Lome and beyond that lacks a durbar grounds for hosting social events and public programmes.
He noted that with unity and cooperation, the project will ease financial burdens on residents and stimulate the local economy.
Nana Afadzie Mensah VII further mentioned other ongoing initiatives, including the newly acquired community cemetery and plans to renovate the two public toilet facilities to enhance sanitation.
He expressed gratitude to the Omankrado of Gomoa Aboso, Nana Kwa Mensah VI, for serving diligently as Regent prior to his installation, and pledged to work closely with him and other traditional leaders to improve living standards in the community.
Present at the event were Nana Eyiah Kwagya, Kyidomhene of Gomoa Aboso; Nana Obo, Omanbaatan of Gomoa Aboso; and Mr. Isaac Acquah, a youth leader in the community.
