Mampontenghene Gives Boodede’s ‘Self‑Acclaimed Chief’ One Week to Answer Stool Land Theft Allegations

The Mampontenghene, Nana Saasi Ayeboafo II, has issued a strict one‑week ultimatum to Agya Antwi — described by the palace as a self‑acclaimed chief of Boodede — and his elders, ordering them to return to the palace and formally defend themselves against allegations of illegally occupying and misrepresenting stool land.

The dispute intensified after the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, first summoned Agya Antwi to the Manhyia Palace. Following initial hearings, Otumfuo referred the matter to the Mampontenghene for a deeper probe into the legitimacy of Antwi’s claims and his alleged occupation of the Boodede stool.

During a traditional court sitting at the Mamponteng Palace, Agya Antwi and his family pleaded for a one‑week extension, arguing that his Queen Mother — whom he said was essential to his explanation — was unavailable. Nana Saasi Ayeboafo II granted the request but warned that this was the final opportunity for Antwi to account for his actions.

Providing clarity on the proceedings, the Abusuapanin of Mamponteng, Nana Gyan Dehyie, told journalists that Boodede lands historically fall under the Mamponteng Kyidom stool. He stressed that the Mamponteng Traditional Council remains firm in protecting its heritage from any form of illegal encroachment.

He cautioned that decisive action would be taken if Agya Antwi is found guilty of misrepresentation or unlawful claims.

“In the coming week, if it is established that he illegally seized the stool land, we will report the full findings to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The necessary sanctions will be applied for such a grave offense,” Nana Gyan Dehyie stated.

He added that the council is prepared to seek Otumfuo’s approval to correct the leadership structure in Boodede should the allegations be proven.

“We will plead with the Asantehene for the mandate to install a rightful and legitimate owner of the stool — someone who truly belongs there — to take over from the accused,” the Abusuapanin said.
