The Ghana Navy and the Republic of Zambia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening defence collaboration to promote peace, security and sustainable development.
The renewed commitment was made during a courtesy call by the newly appointed Zambian Defence Attaché to Ghana, Colonel Brian Kandiwa Moyo, at the Naval Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, where he formally introduced himself to the leadership of the Ghana Navy.
Welcoming the Defence Attaché, the Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, commended Colonel Moyo's predecessor for his invaluable contribution to strengthening defence relations between Ghana and Zambia.
He described the longstanding relationship between the two countries as one built on mutual trust and cooperation and expressed confidence that Colonel Moyo would further deepen the existing partnership.
Commodore Abdul stressed the importance of sustained engagement to expand areas of cooperation beyond military training, noting that enhanced collaboration would contribute significantly to regional peace, security and development.
He also assured Colonel Moyo of the Ghana Navy's full support in the execution of his duties and wished him a successful tenure in office.
For his part, Colonel Moyo reaffirmed Zambia's commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with the Ghana Navy and building on the cordial relations that have existed between the two countries over the years.
He acknowledged the significant role played by the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in the professional development of personnel of the Zambian Defence Force, stating that the institution's training programmes had enhanced strategic leadership and capacity within the force.
