Accra-Kumasi highway traffic diverted after articulated truck blocks road at Birimso

Vehicular traffic on the N6 Highway connecting Accra and Kumasi was temporarily diverted on Saturday after an articulated truck was involved in an accident at Birimso in the Eastern Region.

The incident occurred on the Apedwa-Bunso Junction (Linda Dor) stretch of the highway, resulting in a complete blockage of the road in both directions.

According to a police advisory issued on July 18, the accident made the highway impassable for both Accra-bound and Kumasi-bound motorists.

To ease congestion, officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) redirected traffic through Kyebi.

Vehicles travelling from Accra to Kumasi were diverted at Apedwa through Kyebi, while motorists heading from Kumasi to Accra were redirected at Nsutam through the same route.

Personnel from the Eastern South Regional MTTD, based in Kyebi, were deployed to the scene to manage traffic and supervise the temporary diversion, which took effect from 10:00 a.m.

The Police appealed to motorists and other road users to cooperate with officers on duty and comply with the temporary traffic management measures until the obstruction is cleared.
