Evans Kwame Buami has been elected the Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ho Central Constituency after securing a decisive victory in the party's constituency executive elections.
Mr Buami polled 938 votes, representing about 57 per cent of the total valid votes cast, to defeat three other contenders. Maxwell Kojo Tenge placed second with 523 votes, while Wisdom Kofi Dzormaku obtained 93 votes and Peter Komla Agbayi Akude secured 76 votes.
A total of 1,636 delegates cast their ballots, with 1,630 votes declared valid and six rejected ballots.
Speaking after his victory, Mr Buami expressed gratitude to delegates for entrusting him with the mandate to serve as the constituency's Second Vice Chairman.
"I thank the people of Ho Central for giving me the mandate to lead them as Second Vice Chairman. I'm very grateful. It is an honour, and I assure them that I will do my very best to deliver," he said.
The newly elected executive member pledged to fulfil the promises he made during his campaign and work closely with the newly elected constituency executives to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr Buami said the excitement and celebrations that greeted the announcement of the results reflected the confidence party members had in the new leadership.
He expressed optimism that the NPP would rebuild its structures within the constituency and return to power in 2028 through unity and hard work.
Mr Buami also described the election as free and fair despite delays in the voting process.
"The election was fair and free. It delayed a bit, but in the end it was successful, and we are all happy about it," he said, while thanking delegates for their support and promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.
