In the pantheon of ungodly falsehoods, is there a species more contemptible than the mundane lie?
Apparently, there is. Adolf Hitler, in his Mein Kampf, wrote: “…in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie...”
His Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels, expanded it: “The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed”
Yes, the audacious, towering, breathtaking lie that is presented not in hushed whispers but with the pomp of a royal or presidential proclamation, predicated on the belief that the rest of humanity consists of a herd of perpetually credulous sheep, is more believable.
We are currently witnessing such a specimen, a grotesque performance unfolding on the grim theatre of Eastern Europe.
The United States of America, having, over the decades, meticulously engineered a devastating proxy war against the Russian Federation, using Ukraine as its ramming ram and its treasury as a bottomless pit of weaponry, now has the sheer temerity to present itself to the world as an ‘honest broker’ seeking a peaceful resolution.
A masquerade of grotesque cynicism, a geopolitical shell game designed to obscure the brute, ugly reality of imperial ambition, is presented to the world as diplomacy.
The Americans speak of peace while their munitions factories hum at full capacity. They invoke humanitarian concern while their intelligence apparatus directs the very strikes that devastate Russian cities and infrastructure.
Yes, war is a racket, as General Smedley Butler informed us.
Can President Trump and his groveling coterie, with their low-IQ, genuinely believe that Vladimir Putin - a man who rose through the ranks of the KGB, who spent decades mastering the dark arts of intelligence and counter-intelligence, who has observed American perfidy from the inside - would be so naïve as to trust the word of a power that sustains his adversary’s war effort?
The proposition itself is an insult, not merely to Russian intelligence but to the very concept of rational statecraft.
Any sentient being would ask why the Russians should take any initiative from witless Witless and the utterly untutored Kushner seriously?
These are men, as Alastair Crooke, that incisive analyst of geopolitical currents, has correctly identified, who are engaged in a grubby attempt to divide the “Ukrainian economic cake” among Western banks, corporations, and corrupt officials.
To these soulless, malevolent duo, the conflict is not a tragedy to be resolved; it is an asset to be leveraged - Gaza 2.0.
America’s proxy war in Ukraine is not an aberration; it is the American way. A consistent pattern of intervention that stretches from the jungles of Vietnam through the deserts of the Middle East to the plains of Africa.
Zbigniew Brzezinski, that Polish-American blood-lusting psychopathic hawk, was explicit about his vision: a Russia without Ukraine is a reduced Russia.
Contrary to what fawning propagandized Western press sells to us, the war in Ukraine was not about democracy or Human Rights; it was about domination by the American Empire.
The question we have asked several times is: why can Americans and Westerners not simply live and let live?
This is a question that probes the very soul of American and Western exceptionalism. The entire American and Western national apparatuses are constructed upon the foundation of maintaining global dominance at all costs.
This Western narcissism is so profound, so deeply embedded in the national psyche, that it renders Westerners incapable of recognizing the legitimacy of any other power’s security concerns.
To them, the word sovereignty is meaningless. We witnessed Maduro’s kidnapping and the assassination of Khameini and France’s continuing neocolonial intrigues in the Sahel.
The philosophy remains the same: Why pay for it if you can kill for it?
As an Africancentric blog, we ask: how long shall we continue to watch this spectacle unfold with a scandalous passivity?
Apart from South Africa, African governments have acquiesced, our intellectuals have remained silent, and our people have been distracted by the trivialities of celebrity culture and religious obscurantism.
The time has come for us to awaken from this slumber. We must discard our unquestioning loyalty to any bloc, be it the West or the East.
As disciples of Nkrumah, we should look neither East nor West, but straight ahead.
They are powers seeking to promote their own interests, and we are but pawns in their geopolitical games.
We should shift our focus to promoting Africa’s interests.
I urge every thinking African to procure and read John Stockwell’s In Search of Enemies. This former CIA officer lays bare the grisly reality of American intervention. He chronicles the CIA’s covert war in Angola, a war without purpose, where millions were spent, thousands died, and countless lies were told, all to recoup the Agency’s prestige after the debacle in Vietnam.
Stockwell details the agency’s “Footsoldiers of Foreign Policy,” its unholy alliance with “Business and Money,” and its manipulation of allies like Roberto and Savimbi. His conclusion is damning: the clandestine services of the CIA should be abolished.
Lives have been lost in this ruthless enterprise. We in Africa must choose history and knowledge over unquestioning loyalty to any bloc.
