The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has cautioned publishers against the unauthorized use of its logo on learner materials that have not been assessed and approved by the Council.

The caution comes after the council observed that certain publishers are displaying its logos and other identifying marks on materials that have neither been assessed nor approved.

In a public notice issued on Monday, July 6, NaCCA reiterated that it is the only statutory body mandated under the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023), to assess, approve and recommend pre-tertiary learner materials for use in schools across Ghana.

"It has come to the attention of NaCCA that some publishers are unlawfully using the NaCCA logo on learner materials that have not undergone NaCCA's assessment and approval processes. This practice is misleading, unauthorized, and constitutes a violation of the law," the Council said in part of the statement.

NaCCA therefore directed all publishers and individuals involved in the practice to immediately stop using its name, logo, insignia or any other representation suggesting that unapproved learner materials have received the Council's endorsement.

"Failure to comply with this directive will result in appropriate regulatory and legal action against defaulting parties," the statement warned.

The Council further reminded publishers, educational institutions, booksellers, distributors, retailers and parents that all learner materials intended for use in pre-tertiary schools must first be assessed and approved by NaCCA before they are published, marketed, distributed or used.

It said every approved learner material carries an official NaCCA Approval QR Code, which enables users to verify its authenticity and approval status.

The Council advised schools, booksellers and the general public to always check for the QR code before purchasing, stocking or using any learning material.
