Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo is expected to be flown abroad for further medical treatment after undergoing two surgeries at the 37 Military Hospital following a reported shooting incident.
The development was disclosed by her Special Assistant, Dr Emmanuel Y. Boakye, who said the former legislator is currently receiving treatment at the military hospital in Accra.
The shooting incident occurred at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, on Sunday, June 22, where he was being installed as the new leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Speaking on GhanAkoma on Akoma 87.9 FM, Dr Boakye said arrangements are being considered to seek further treatment outside Ghana.
“Adwoa has undergone two surgeries and is expected to be flown abroad for further treatment to prevent further damage to her face,” he said as quoted by 3news.com.
Her aide, however, did not disclose the country where the former MP may be taken for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has invited Akofena over the incident after previously arresting six private bodyguards who are said to have fired the bullets.
The Ministry of the Interior has also suspended the license of the Kantaka Security Service over the incident.
