Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, on Friday joined Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and other stakeholders to assess the aftermath of the devastating fire outbreak that ravaged the Ghana Police Service Barracks at Tudu in Accra.
The fire, which occurred on June 3, 2026, displaced several families and destroyed properties, leaving many residents grappling with significant losses.
During the visit, Dr. Zanetor and the Vice President toured the affected areas, interacted with officers of the Ghana Police Service and residents, and offered words of encouragement to victims affected by the disaster.
In a statement shared on her official Facebook page, Dr. Zanetor expressed solidarity with those who lost their homes, belongings, and sense of security as a result of the incident.
She assured victims of continued support throughout the recovery process while emphasizing the importance of strengthening preventive measures against similar disasters.
The Korle Klottey legislator stressed that fire and flood prevention should be treated as a collective responsibility, urging citizens and authorities alike to prioritize responsible waste disposal, regular desilting of drains, strict enforcement of safety regulations, and improved emergency preparedness.
According to her, building resilient communities requires a shared commitment from all stakeholders to address underlying risks before they escalate into disasters.
"My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. Let us continue to work together to build safer, more resilient communities for all," she stated.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by government officials and emergency management stakeholders to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire and explore ways to support affected families as they rebuild their lives.
The incident has renewed calls for stronger safety protocols and proactive disaster prevention measures, particularly in densely populated residential areas vulnerable to fires and flooding.
