Haruna Iddrisu Signs Landmark AI Education Deal With Google for Education

Ghana’s education sector is set for a major digital transformation following the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the Ministry of Education and Google for Education aimed at integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning across the country.

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced the development in a statement shared on his official Facebook page after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the global tech giant.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Google for Education by Mr. Kelvin Kells, the company’s Global Managing Director.
According to the Education Minister, the partnership is expected to drive innovation in Ghana’s educational system by introducing advanced AI technologies to improve classroom teaching, learning outcomes, digital literacy, and teacher training.

Haruna Iddrisu explained that the collaboration forms part of government’s broader vision to modernize education and prepare Ghanaian students for the rapidly evolving digital economy.

“The partnership will support innovation in teaching and learning, strengthen digital literacy, enhance teacher capacity, and equip Ghanaian students with the critical skills needed for the future of work in an increasingly technology-driven world,” the Minister stated.

The initiative is also expected to expand opportunities for students and educators to access modern digital tools while positioning Ghana among African countries embracing AI-powered education reforms.
