The Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Julius Debrah has charged participants of Course 3-2026 of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) to position themselves as strategic leaders capable of driving national cohesion, security and sustainable development across Ghana and the African continent.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the matriculation ceremony held at Burma Hall, Burma Camp, Honourable Debrah congratulated the 25 participants on their successful admission into the prestigious institution, describing their selection as a testament to the confidence and trust reposed in them by their various institutions.

The course, themed “National Cohesion, Security and Sustainable Development,” brings together personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, allied security agencies from Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Namibia, Zambia and Malawi, as well as representatives from the National Security Secretariat and the Office of the President.

According to the Chief of Staff, the participants would be equipped through experiential learning, seminars, research work, high-profile visits and syndicate discussions to effectively confront emerging security and governance challenges facing the continent.

He emphasised the need for strategic thinking, collaboration and visionary leadership in safeguarding peace and stability in Africa.

The President of the National Defence University, Felix Adom Asante officially admitted the participants into the National College of Defence Studies.

Welcoming the participants, the Commandant of NCDS, Frederick Dankyi Ntiri urged them to take advantage of the programme to build strong professional networks and exchange ideas that would help address complex national and regional challenges.

Major General Ntiri disclosed that the 48-week programme would culminate in the award of a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies degree and fellowship status of the National College of Defence Studies.

He further noted that despite operational difficulties, the institution had successfully graduated two previous courses and continued to strengthen its role in developing strategic leadership for national development and security management.

The ceremony was attended by several senior military officers and government officials, including the Chief of the Defence Staff, William Agyapong; Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Genfi; senior officers of the Ghana Armed Forces and other distinguished guests.
