A suspected thief has been apprehended after allegedly stealing a container gate and selling it to a scrap dealer for just GH₵42, in a bizarre incident that has raised concerns about security around stored materials.
According to reports, the container owners customarily remove the gates after work and leave them aside temporarily before securing the container later. The suspect is said to have taken advantage of this routine to steal the first gate without immediate detection.
He reportedly sold the stolen gate at a nearby scrap yard for GH₵42.
In a surprising turn of events, the suspect allegedly returned later to steal the second gate from the same container. However, this time, he was caught red-handed during the act.
Following his arrest, the stolen gate was traced to the scrap yard where it had been sold. Authorities successfully retrieved it and returned it safely to its rightful owners.
