A delegation from Air Ghana has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to brief him on the company’s latest operational developments and expansion plans aimed at boosting cargo connectivity within Ghana and across the West African sub-region.

The delegation, led by Air Ghana’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Karim Traboulsi, outlined ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s air cargo infrastructure and improve regional logistics efficiency.

He noted the company’s acquisition of a dedicated Boeing 737-400 freighter, expected to promote trade facilitation and reduce transit delays.

According to Mr Traboulsi, the aircraft would arrive in Ghana on 5th May 2026 and play a key role in lowering the cost of cargo operations while meeting growing demand in newly emerging markets across West Africa. The development would position Ghana more firmly as a regional cargo hub.

He emphasised that the investment reflects Air Ghana’s commitment to supporting trade expansion and improving connectivity within the sub-region, particularly at a time when supply chain efficiency has become increasingly important for economic growth.

The Minister welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting investments that enhance air transport and logistics capacity.

He noted that efficient cargo movement remains a critical driver of national development, trade facilitation, and regional integration.

Mr Nikpe further reiterated the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with Air Ghana and other stakeholders in the aviation sector to address operational challenges and create an enabling environment for a competitive and sustainable air cargo industry.
