Head of Da’wah Sheikh Maiga urges prospective pilgrims to prioritise knowledge, discipline

The Head of Da’wah of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana, Sheikh Abdul Malik Abdul Rahman Maiga, has called on prospective pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj to prioritise proper religious education and discipline to ensure a successful and accepted pilgrimage.

Speaking during the orientation ahead of the annual pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Maiga stressed that performing Hajj without adequate knowledge undermines the essence of the sacred journey.

He described orientation programmes for pilgrims as critical, noting that guide, educate and shape how well pilgrims perform the rites.

According to him, Islam encourages worship based on knowledge, cautioning that acts of (worship) carried out without understanding may not meet the required standards.

He explained that the teachings aim to guide pilgrims to perform the Hajj in accordance with the traditions of Prophet Muhammad, ultimately leading to a Hajj Mabroor, a pilgrimage accepted by Allah, whose reward, he noted, is Paradise.

Sheikh Maiga also emphasised the need for unity among pilgrims, urging them to operate under a single leadership structure to avoid confusion and ensure smooth coordination throughout the pilgrimage.

He further called for stronger collaboration between Hajj agents, scholars, and relevant departments to ensure that pilgrims receive adequate training after completing their payments and travel arrangements.

He urged them to cultivate piety and sincerity, describing Hajj as a spiritual journey that requires devotion, humility, and fear of Allah.

He encouraged the pilgrims to prepare spiritually and morally, stressing that the best provision for the journey is righteousness.
