President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed government’s commitment to modernising the Ghana Immigration Service, assuring the Service of continued support for reforms aimed at strengthening border security and improving operational efficiency.
The assurance was given at the Jubilee House when the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service, led by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, paid a courtesy call on the President.
The visit provided an opportunity for the newly constituted Council to formally introduce itself to the President, brief him on ongoing governance reforms within the Service, and seek strategic direction on its future operations.
President Mahama commended the Council for its efforts to reposition the Service and stressed the need to equip it with modern technology and systems to respond effectively to emerging migration and security challenges.
He reiterated government’s support for initiatives aimed at strengthening border management, building institutional capacity, and enhancing national security under the “Secure Our Borders” agenda.
The Council is expected to spearhead reforms designed to improve efficiency, coordination, and service delivery within the Immigration Service as part of broader efforts to modernise Ghana’s security architecture.
