The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the death of a suspected armed robber and murder suspect following an intelligence-led operation at Cherimbo in the Prang District of the Bono East Region.
According to police, the operation was carried out on Monday, April 13, 2026, by the Bono East Regional Police Intelligence Directorate with support from the National Police Intelligence Directorate, targeting a suspect identified as Amadu Mammaa.
The suspect, who was being sought in connection with multiple robbery incidents and a murder case, was reportedly shot during an exchange of fire with the police team.
He was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said a search conducted on him led to the retrieval of a foreign-made pistol loaded with four rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, a cutlass and three talismans.
Preliminary investigations have linked the suspect to the killing of Hawa Yakubu on March 9, 2026, at Jerusalem near Mpaha in the Savannah Region, as well as a robbery attack on two individuals at Bompa near Ejura in the Ashanti Region on February 23, 2026.
The body has since been deposited at the Holy Family Hospital morgue, while investigations continue.
