Where is the resilient economy you claim to have built? — Dr. Domfeh quizzes Mahama

A Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Policy Studies (CSPS), Dr George Domfeh, has questioned President John Dramani Mahama over his claim of building a resilient economy.

His comments follow the launch of a recruitment portal for 7,000 graduate teachers.

Speaking to the media about the process, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu indicated that fiscal limitations prevented the government from employing the full number of unemployed teachers.

Reacting to this, the policy analyst argues that the situation contradicts President Mahama's campaign promise of automatic posting for teachers.

In a social media post on Tuesday, April 14, Dr Domfeh also challenged the government’s economic narrative.

“Strangely, recent statements by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu suggest that due to existing resource limitations, the government can only recruit 7,000 teachers out of an estimated 50,000 required in the sector,” he wrote.

He further questioned how such limitations align with claims of a strong and resilient economy.

“The notion of a resilient economy built during his tenure appears incongruous with the prevailing fiscal constraints. A pertinent question remains: where is the resilient economy he claimed to have established?” he questioned.

Dr Domfeh further observed that voters are often presented with promises that are difficult to deliver after elections.
