Ghanaian rapper Kwame Nsiah Apau, popularly known as Okyeame Kwame, has revealed his admiration for the Nkrumahist ideology.

He said he would have joined the Convention People’s Party (CPP) if he were a partisan politician and if the party had remained properly organised after the death of its founder, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV’s Face to Face show on Tuesday, April 7, the musician noted that he currently does not belong to any political party but remains open to serving the country under any government.

“I am not a politician in its strict sense… If I was to choose a party, I would have loved to be a Nkrumahist… I would be proud to stand in public and say I belong to the CPP, if the CPP had organised itself properly,” he said.

He added that his decision to stay non-partisan does not limit his willingness to contribute to national development if called upon by a sitting President.

“If Mahama calls me… or if Akufo-Addo had called me… I would have done it. If you have the capacity, you do it,” he stated.

Okyeame Kwame stressed that his political stance is driven more by national interest than party loyalty.

The rapper reiterated his call for a long-term development framework to guide governance beyond political cycles.
