Discipline and Respect: The way forward

Gone are the days when people showed genuine love and kindness without expecting anything in return. Today, we have reached a point where some people, especially men, demand sex in exchange for help, particularly from women.

I have heard appalling stories from female friends, and it is heartbreaking. What is even more disturbing is that some people use positions of power, like SRC roles to exploit vulnerable students.

What kind of society are we building? Don't we realise that such actions can have long-term consequences? If these women rise to positions of power, they will likely remember those who disrespected and objectified them.

Fellow men, it is time to step up and be disciplined. Your integrity is everything. Let us work towards creating a culture of respect and genuine support.

If you are serious about someone, propose and commit to the relationship. Don't lead them on by inviting them to your house or meeting at a hotel - it's unfair and disrespectful. Keep interactions professional if you are in a position of influence.

Also, never make suggestive comments – it's a huge red flag. Your integrity is on the line, and once you cross that boundary, it is hard to regain trust.
