NACOC arrests ammunition and drug dealer, seizes 2,626 cartridges in Wa East

The Upper West Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission has arrested a 60-year-old man, Abass Seidu, for alleged involvement in the sale of ammunition and controlled drugs at Kundugu in the Wa East District.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, February 19, NACOC disclosed that the suspect was picked up on January 29, 2026, after weeks of undercover surveillance at the Kundugu market and at a suspected stash house in Wa.

During the initial operation, officers reportedly uncovered three cartons of ammunition and quantities of tramadol hidden among assorted pharmaceutical products.

A follow up search at Seidu’s stash house located at the Wa Kejetia lorry station led to the discovery of seven more cartons and 362 individual rounds of ammunition, as well as assorted foreign cigarettes. In total, 2,626 cartridges were retrieved.

NACOC indicated that the suspect is believed to have supplied both local buyers and persons from neighbouring Burkina Faso.

Seidu has since been transferred to the Wa Municipal Police to assist with further investigations and to face prosecution.

The Upper West Regional Command has urged the public to desist from criminal activities and to support security agencies in maintaining law and order.
