Communication Aide to one of the leading presidential aspirants of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, has described the former Vice President as the party’s strongest candidate for victory in the 2028 general elections, citing his experience, competence, and track record.
Speaking on the “Cup of Tea” morning show on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM, hosted by Sachiel Ibn Yaccub, outspoken party communicator Lexy Abena Boahene expressed strong confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities and electoral appeal.
According to her, Dr. Bawumia’s political journey places him closer to the presidency than any of his contenders, having served twice as running mate to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo while in opposition, and later as Vice President of the Republic.
Abena Boahene further emphasized that Dr. Bawumia has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead, pointing to over 33 transformative policies and initiatives he championed during his tenure.
These include Mobile Money Interoperability, the National Identification System (Ghana Card), digital property addressing, digitization of port operations, a single government services and payments portal, and the modernization of public record-keeping, among others.
She noted that these interventions have significantly improved efficiency, transparency, and service delivery across the country, adding that Dr. Bawumia still has much more to offer if given the mandate to lead the party to the 2028 general election and finally lead Ghana.
Describing him as hardworking, humble, tenacious, and highly knowledgeable, Abena Boahene said Dr. Bawumia is a leader who embraces people from all walks of life and has practical ideas that resonate with delegates, grassroots supporters, and the general public.
She concluded by assuring Ghanaians that Dr. Bawumia would never take the welfare of the people for granted nor govern with favoritism, urging the public to disregard claims suggesting otherwise.
