Statesman Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has criticised the current state of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, the party is now consumed by corruption and greed, a trend he says began under the leadership of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana show on Thursday, January 15, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, who insists he remains a party member, expressed deep concern over the situation.
“We are very much concerned about the indiscipline in the party. Indiscipline and dishonesty have brought corruption into the party, and it’s unfortunate this has happened under the presidency of Akufo-Addo,” he stated.
The veteran politician alleged that leadership positions in the party are no longer about competence but about who can pay more money to delegates.
“Corruption has consumed the party. Even to get a position in the party, among the young people themselves, it’s about money. I don’t know any other members who want to compete for a position on merit,” he noted.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe revived his criticism following the party’s announcement to expel leading member Professor Kwabena Frimpong over his recent conduct.
In a recent interview with Accra-based Channel One TV’s Point of View, the former Minister for Environment described the NPP as degenerated and no longer true to its founding ideals.
However, he dismissed the move to expel him, insisting he remains a party member and that no one can revoke his membership.
