‘Mahama is not carrying his chair around like Akufo-Addo used to do’ — Prof Frimpong Boateng

Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for his humility and approachability.

Prof Frimpong Boateng noted that, unlike former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President Mahama does not carry his own chair to official ceremonies and events.

He cited an encounter at the 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in Accra on Monday, January 5, where the President simply sat on a normal chair.

Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV’s Point of View show on Monday, January 12, Prof Frimpong Boateng added that he was impressed with how the current President is performing compared to his predecessor.

“I like him[President John Mahama]. Recently, at a teachers’ function, I thought the presidential chair would be brought for him, but Mahama sat on the same chair as everyone else, and I think that was good,” he noted.

The former minister stressed the qualities he believes make a good president, including integrity, vision, and the courage to make tough decisions.

“You must have the will to make a difference and have sound moral values, be passionate about developing Ghana, resilient and adaptable, and have the courage to do what is right,” he said.

Meanwhile, the one-time New Patriotic Party flagbearer aspirant argued that Ghana would have become a better country if he had realized his dream of becoming the President.
