The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a final evacuation notice to occupants along the Santasi Roundabout–Asokwa Interchange corridor, as it intensifies efforts to clear the area for the ongoing construction of a dual-carriage road.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Unit of the Assembly, KMA urged all affected persons, particularly car dealers, mechanics, taxi operators, traders, squatters, and owners of temporary structures to voluntarily vacate the stretch by January 20, 2026, to allow redevelopment works to proceed smoothly.
The Assembly recalled that a prior notice issued on September 24, 2025, directed all occupants, including owners of billboards mounted along the corridor, to relocate by November 1, 2025.
However, KMA noted that despite persistent reminders, some individuals have failed to comply with the directive.
According to the statement, construction of the Santasi–Asokwa dual carriage road has already commenced, making the immediate clearance of the corridor critical to the timely completion of the project.
Engineers from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have also begun relocating essential utility installations along the stretch.
The Assembly appealed to residents and traders in the area to cooperate fully with contractors and engineers on site, stressing that such collaboration was necessary to ensure speedy and uninterrupted execution of the project.
KMA advised owners of affected garages and structures to contact relevant departments, including the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Physical Planning Department, and Urban Roads Department for assistance and possible relocation arrangements.
The Santasi–Asokwa road project is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and enhance mobility within Kumasi once completed.
The Assembly emphasised that compliance with the evacuation directive will go a long way in facilitating the successful and timely delivery of this important infrastructure development.
