Vice President urges filmmakers to pursue depth and professionalism

Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has urged filmmakers to pursue depth, professionalism, and sustainability, not just visibility. The Vice President made this call during the maiden edition of the Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA) 2025.

“I urged filmmakers and actors, especially the younger ones, to pursue depth, professionalism, and sustainability, not just visibility,” she said.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Naana admonished creatives to ensure their narratives are told with quality and purpose, resonating with both audiences and markets.

She also called on investors and partners to take a long-term view of the film industry, noting that it holds immense potential for job creation, cultural diplomacy, and economic growth.

Filmmakers, actors, and creatives from across Ghana and the African continent thronged the event to celebrate talent and excellence.

The Vice President reminded the gathering that REFFA is not only recognizing achievement but also opening doors beyond borders, positioning African film on regional and global platforms.

She congratulated all awardees and participants and wished REFFA continued growth as a platform that elevates African narratives and nurtures the next generation of creative talent.
