Senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. George Domfeh, has confirmed that he and Political Science professor Ransford Gyampo have resolved their recent public dispute, following a widely circulated video that captured the two academics in a tense verbal confrontation.
The reconciliation follows a viral video that emerged on November 15, 2025, showing a heated clash between the University of Ghana lecturers.
The altercation occurred during a TV3 panel discussion on political developments, when disagreements quickly escalated into personal attacks.
The video, under a minute long, showed Dr. Domfeh criticizing Prof. Gyampo’s past leadership in UTAG and questioning his political leanings. Prof. Gyampo, who is also CEO of the Ghana Shippers' Authority, responded sharply, challenging Domfeh’s professional credibility.
The dispute intensified as Dr. Domfeh made further allegations regarding unprofessional conduct, forcing production staff to intervene to separate the two.
The incident drew widespread criticism, with many social media users and academics expressing disappointment that two senior lecturers engaged in such behavior in a public setting.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Dr. Domfeh said he had engaged in “a long and cordial telephone conversation” with Prof. Gyampo, during which both men recognized that their behavior had been excessive.
He noted that Prof. Gyampo “acknowledged that he regrets his commentary against my person which was distasteful and defamatory especially considering our longstanding collegial relationship.”
Dr. Domfeh also admitted to responding too harshly. “I, in turn, admitted that I went so hard with my comments about his person in response to his position on my commentary.”
The two have now “sincerely apologized to each other” and agreed to “put this episode behind us and move forward with renewed respect for each other,” Dr. Domfeh added.
He further appealed to the public for restraint, urging supporters to respect the reconciliation. “I therefore respectfully urge our families, friends, and supporters to respect this mutual understanding and to continue to support us in our professional contributions to national development,” he emphasized.
