General News Emmanuel Adinkrah: The digital guardian redefining internet safety in Ghana
MON, 17 NOV 2025

In an era where technology shapes nearly every aspect of daily life, one man’s unrelenting mission to make the internet safer for Ghanaians — particularly children and young adults — has earned him national acclaim.

Mr. Emmanuel Edem Kwamla Adinkrah, President of the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation (GISF), Founder of the Trust and Safety Africa Academy, and a member of the Trust and Safety Professional Association (TSPA), has been honoured at the 4th Ghana Philanthropy Awards for his Distinguished Leadership in Digital Inclusion and Online Safety.

The ceremony, held on Thursday, 30th October 2025 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, celebrated more than 30 exceptional philanthropists and social impact champions. Yet among them, Mr. Adinkrah’s story resonated deeply — a narrative defined by foresight, tenacity, and a relentless commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s digital space.

For over a decade, Emmanuel Adinkrah has been one of Ghana’s strongest advocates for responsible digital citizenship. Long before cyberbullying, online fraud, and child exploitation became national conversations, he was leading public engagement, education and policy advocacy to confront these emerging threats.

Under his leadership, the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation has grown into a trusted institution across schools, communities and organisations, empowering children, parents and educators to identify and respond effectively to online risks. GISF’s school outreaches, digital parenting programmes and media advocacy have helped shape a nationwide conversation about responsible online behaviour.

As Ghana accelerates its digital transformation — from online learning to fintech and social media — Mr. Adinkrah has insisted that digital inclusion must go hand in hand with digital safety. His leadership blends compassion with innovation, and his work continues to influence national policy dialogues and strengthen Ghana’s online safety ecosystem. GISF has collaborated with local institutions, civil society groups, technology partners and law enforcement agencies to expand its impact across the country.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Adinkrah expressed deep appreciation for the honour, dedicating the award to his team, partners and every young Ghanaian navigating the digital world:

"This recognition is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the collective efforts of all those who share in the vision of a safer, more inclusive digital Ghana… This award is a call to action—to do even more, reach even farther, and ensure that every Ghanaian, regardless of age or background, can participate in the digital age securely and confidently.”

The award citation recognised his “unwavering dedication to advancing online safety awareness, protecting digital rights, and promoting inclusive access to technology for all.”

Beyond the spotlight, what distinguishes Emmanuel Adinkrah’s legacy is his hands-on, community-driven approach. Initiatives such as Safer Internet Week Ghana, Digital Parenting Clinics, and Online Behaviour Education have touched countless households across both urban and rural areas. Each programme reinforces his conviction that awareness, empathy and education must be central to the digital experience.

His work goes beyond online safety advocacy. He is actively involved in digital literacy training, youth mentorship, and initiatives that give underprivileged young people access to tech skills — a foundation for opportunity in the digital era.

Through his guidance, GISF has evolved into a model for how local NGOs can confront global challenges with homegrown insight. The foundation has taken part in regional collaborations, contributed to policy discussions, and helped raise Ghana’s visibility in global online safety conversations.

Peers describe him as “a man ahead of his time,” whose vision and dedication have saved countless young people from harm while building trust in Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.

As the celebrations end, Emmanuel Adinkrah’s work continues with even greater purpose. For him, the award is not a finish line but an encouragement to push further — to build a Ghana where every citizen can explore the digital world safely and confidently.

In Ghana’s growing list of philanthropic trailblazers, his name stands out — a digital guardian, mentor and changemaker whose compassion meets innovation. His journey affirms that true leadership lies not in accolades, but in the lives transformed and the futures protected.

Through the work of the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation and his continued commitment, Emmanuel Adinkrah is proving every day that philanthropy is more than giving — it is building safer digital futures, one click at a time.
