Nkoranza North MP, DCE break ground for new school blocks, CHPS compounds

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North, Joseph Kwasi Mensah, together with the District Chief Executive (DCE), Effah Patrick, has jointly cut the sod for the construction of key infrastructure projects in the district.

The initiatives include the building of three-unit classroom blocks for Nipahiamoa (Lower Primary) and Domeabra (JHS), as well as the establishment of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Boana and Asekye in the Bono East Region.

The sod-cutting ceremonies, held last weekend, brought together community leaders, residents, education and health officials, and contractors.

The events marked the official commencement of the projects, which aimed to improve education and healthcare delivery across the district.

According to the DCE, the three-unit classroom blocks will replace dilapidated school structures, providing a safer and more conducive environment for learning. Each classroom block will include stores, offices, dressing rooms, and modern water closet toilet facilities to enhance comfort and functionality for both teachers and students.

Equipment
In the health sector, Mr. Effah Patrick disclosed that the CHPS compounds at Boana and Asekye will feature nurses’ accommodation and will be fully equipped with the necessary facilities and medical equipment to ensure effective healthcare delivery.

He noted that these two facilities are being developed through the conversion of unused gari factory buildings, a move that maximises existing community assets for public benefit.

“These projects are part of the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening education and healthcare infrastructure in response to community needs and development priorities,” Hon. Effah Patrick said in an interview on Fabea FM with Apiah-Kubi.

The MP and DCE officially handed over the construction sites to the respective contractors, who have been given eight months to complete the projects. Funding is being provided through the District Assembly’s Common Fund.

Mr. Effah Patrick emphasised that once completed, these projects will significantly boost educational capacity at both the lower primary and junior high school levels while improving access to quality healthcare in the beneficiary communities.
