The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has expressed confidence in the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to effectively prosecute corrupt past officials and recover looted public funds.
He said, unlike the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Attorney General has demonstrated seriousness and competence in pursuing justice for the state.
“I have confidence in Dr Ayine and his team. I know the cases they are dealing with now. Ghanaians will get justice, both in recovering stolen funds and ensuring offenders are punished,” he said during an appearance on Accra-based TV3’s New Day show on Wednesday, October 22..
However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker noted that despite huge budgetary allocations, the OSP has failed to secure any notable convictions since its establishment.
“As I sit here today, I’m a Member of Parliament, I want to see an OSP that is working, but unfortunately, Roland, it appears as though the OSP is playing games,” he said
He continued, “Look at the amount of money that has been allocated to that office. They have staff who are being paid, but how many people have they prosecuted? What have they retrieved?”
Edem Agbana further noted that even Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, though not a prosecutorial body, has helped retrieve state funds, unlike the OSP, which he described as “extremely slow when it comes to prosecutions.”

I disagree with the AG's assertion that 'Buying state land at ridiculously low price does not in itself constitute crime' – Deputy Attorney General. It does constitute a crime in the highest level. The said land mut be sold at the current market price of a land in the area. Any difference must be recovered, if you don't you, my friend, you could be found capable. Make sure you recover all the State stolen funds your office become aware of. The old tactics is no more: Ghanaians are watchi...
