The Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, has lamented the country's current economic reality, where people with brilliant ideas lack the financial means to bring them to life, while those with money struggle to find trustworthy innovators to invest in.
According to him, this mismatch between creativity and capital has become one of the major barriers to economic growth and innovation in the country.
The minister observed this while was speaking at a Stakeholder Sensitization Forum on the Enhanced Legal Framework for Corporate Insolvency in Ghana on Wednesday, October 8.
“People have ideas, brilliant ideas, of how to make money, but they have no money to start making money,” Dr. Srem Sai said.
He added, “Ghana is at a place where the people who have the ideas don’t have the money, and the people who have the money, who don’t have the ideas, can’t trust the people who have the ideas to give their money to. That is where we are currently.”
Dr. Srem Sai explained that for Ghana’s economy to thrive, there must be a system that bridges the trust gap between innovators and investors. He said such trust would allow ideas and money to work together to create a more prosperous country.
“This project is intended to move Ghana from where we are to a place where people who have the ideas could be trusted by those who have the money, so the money and the ideas can come together and make Ghana a prosperous country,” he stated.
