The Ga Traditional Council has condemned the violent clashes that erupted at Omanjor and Sowutuom on September 2, 2025, which resulted in deaths and injuries.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 16, the Council extended its condolences to bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. It further called on the Accra Regional Police Command to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The Council also clarified that it has no record of recognising any individual as a substantive chief of Omanjor. A check with the National House of Chiefs confirmed the same. In response, the Council has placed an indefinite hold on all persons presenting themselves as “Chief of Omanjor” until peace and order are fully restored.
To prevent further unrest, the Ga Traditional Council, led by His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has assumed jurisdictional control over the area pending the outcome of police investigations.
The statement, signed by Registrar Kenneth Smart-Abbey, appealed to all feuding parties in Omanjor to cooperate with the Council in the interest of peace and stability.
