The Minister for the Interior and MP for Asawase, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has charged personnel of the Ghana Police Service to uphold high standards of competence and enforce the law fairly and impartially.
Muntaka Mubarak reminded both newly passed-out and in-service officers of their crucial role in maintaining peace, security, and social cohesion for national development.
Speaking at the National Police Training School passing-out ceremony on Friday, July 4, he further emphasized the importance of integrity and professionalism, stating that the public expects officers to serve with humility, courage, and honour.
“The Ghana Police Service’s role in promoting peace, security, and social cohesion necessary for national development cannot be overemphasised. I urge you all on parade to exhibit a higher level of competence that complements the public’s trust and enforce the law firmly with utmost respect for citizens,” he said.
“The motto of the Ghana Police Service, ‘Service with Integrity,’ highlights the public’s expectation of you as police officers. You must remember that as officers, you are servants of the people and must serve with integrity and humility,” Muntaka Mubarak added.
The lawmaker cautioned against any acts that could tarnish the image of the Service.
“Let your conduct, both on and off duty, reflect the highest standards the Service expects of you and the hope the nation places in you. Desist from engaging in activities that will bring the name of the Service into disrepute,” he dstated.
As part of efforts to support the government’s 24-hour economy policy, the minister revealed that the police administration has established a 24-Hour Economy Security Secretariat at the Police Headquarters to coordinate security arrangements for businesses and industries under the initiative.
