The Minority caucus in Parliament has petitioned the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC) to clarify the legitimacy of the medical title used by Ann Sansa Daly.
Sansa Daly, known for hosting health-related programmes on Accra-based GHOne TV, has come under public scrutiny following concerns that she may not be a certified medical doctor as publicly claimed.
Amid the controversy, government revoked her appointment to the board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
In a letter signed by Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee and sighted by ModernGhana News, the caucus is demanding confirmation on whether Daly is registered with the GMDC.
The petition specifically queries: “Has Dr. Ann Sansa Daly ever been registered with the GMDC in any capacity (e.g., temporary or permanent registration)?” and “Is it within the GMDC’s regulations for an unregistered individual to publicly present themselves as a medical doctor or offer medical advice on public platforms within Ghana?”
The MPs further demand clarification—within a week—on Daly’s registration status with the relevant medical licensing authority in the United States, where she claims to have obtained her qualification.
The caucus insists that their request is in the public interest, emphasizing the need to ensure that anyone offering health-related services or advice to Ghanaians meets the appropriate legal and professional standards.
