Wontumi's arrest: Stop tossing us around, you'll not be EOCO director forever – Afenyo-Markin blasts Raymond Archer

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has issued a stern caution to the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, urging him to reconsider his leadership approach amid rising tensions over the arrest and detention of the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

During a Minority Caucus protest at EOCO headquarters, Afenyo-Markin warned Archer against dismissive conduct and bureaucratic stalling in engaging political actors and stakeholders.

“I want to say something to my respected friend, Mr. Raymond Archer. He will not be the Executive Director of EOCO forever. Someday, one day, he will not be there,” Afenyo-Markin said pointedly.

He criticizes EOCO’s unwillingness to engage in meaningful dialogue, claiming their evasiveness only deepens suspicions of partisanship.

“You call them, they won’t even respond. You try to engage them, they will say, OK. The next moment, they will be tossing you, tossing you,” he lamented.

Despite his frustration, Afenyo-Markin reiterated the NPP’s commitment to peaceful discourse, saying, “We will continue to peacefully dialogue with them.”

However, he drew a clear line between justice and persecution, cautioning against politically motivated actions under the guise of legal proceedings.
